The name
In all Buddhist traditions, butter lamps are lit at religious ceremonies to fulfill good wishes. The precious butter used to assist in the realization of the projects is only surpassed by the wax of bees.
Outside the temple the lamps shall drive away the darkness.
Matter transforms into light, a transformation that resembles the search for enlightenment.
Our philosophy
To process the wax of the bees means to participate in a holistic process. We grasp this precious material with our hands, smell it and see the change in every aggregate state.
We work in handicraft tradition according to the medieval codex of beeswax making, which prescribes working with pure, high-quality beeswax, thus combining a holistic production technique with modern design.
All our candles are produced in the craft at the Biosphärehof Tabakscheucher in Styria and now also in our Cologne workshop.
We buy our beeswax from a family business in Germany.
The wax is technically not falsified and is of high quality. Except for the colour, it is processed without additives in excellent quality.
